Living on the streets is very hard. You will be cold, hungry and in danger from other people.

 

    Some of the problems you will face:

  • nowhere safe to sleep or rest
  • no food or clean water
  • being at risk from dangerous or abusive people
  • not being able to wash yourself or your clothes
  • getting sick
  • no money
  • being attacked or having your belongings stolen from you.

People and places that can help

  • LAMP (Luton Accommodation and Move on Project) - advice and practical help for people between the ages of 16 and 25 including housing and resettlement. Call 01582 43 17 44, email office@lamp.uk.net or visit www.lamp.uk.net, Ground Floor, 17-21 Napier Road, Luton, LU1 1RF
  • Shelter - freephone 08088 00 44 44 - 24 hour, free, national helpline providing advice to anyone with a housing problem or visit www.shelter.org.uk
  • Runaway - helpline for young people under 18 who have run away from home or care. Advisers are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Freephone 08088 00 70 70, text 80234, email runaway@missingpeople.org.uk or visit www.runawayhelpline.org.uk

If you want to send a message to your family or friends to let them know you are safe, a 24-hour service is available. You don’t have to let them know where you are, just that you are OK. The Message Home service is available on freephone 800 70 07 40 or by email messagehome@missingpeople.org.uk.
