Construction work by Wates on Luton’s new state of the art youth centre, TOKKO, started in January 2012.
Enterprise House has now been demolished and construction of the foundations for the new building is underway - this should be finished by the end of May 2012.
Once the foundations are in place, electricity, water, drainage and communications will be installed before the construction of ground floor which will consist of a 600mm thick slab of reinforced concrete.
Works planned over the coming months
Summary of work on the TOKKO building over the next few months: - foundations and ground floor laid
- tower crane installed
- structural frame or ‘skeleton’ of the building constructed
Tower crane
A tower crane will be installed over a Sunday and Monday in June 2012.
While this is happening, Gordon Street will be closed to vehicles but will remain open to pedestrians.
Wates will issue letters confirming dates and times of road closures nearer the time.
Site working hours
Wates construction’s site working hours continue to be Monday to Friday, 8am to 5.30pm – although there may be the odd occasion when works overrun due to unavoidable circumstances. About Wates construction and this project
