Condom card scheme
If you’re having sex, or thinking about having sex, you need to be thinking about contraception.
Condoms protect you from sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and, used properly, are 98% effective at preventing pregnancy.
But it can be pretty embarrassing to buy them, not to mention expensive. That’s why the sexual health organisation Brook has come up with the C:card scheme.
Here’s how it works:
1. Register
To register for the scheme, just come into one of the Registration Points. You can find them at lots of different places, including schools, youth centres and doctors’ surgeries – for a full list, see the Registration Point locations listed on the Brook website.
When you come in, a trained member of staff will explain to you how the C:card scheme works and discuss issues around healthy relationships and sexual health. They will also explain how to use a condom and what to do if a condom breaks.
Once you’ve registered, you will get:
- C:card with your unique membership number
- A-Z of Sexual Health booklet
- 12 condoms* and sachets of lube
- list of places to get more condoms
* in some cases, the card may be restricted to 6 condoms
Your visit is completely confidential, so you don’t need to worry about anyone finding out.
2. Collect your free condoms
Look out for the feet logo (above) - this means you’re at a C:card Distribution Point. You just need to show them your card to collect your free condoms.

Your C:card is valid for six visits - after that, you will need to re-register.
